Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on their farm in Eufala. Another reason for his football career was that his father was the only of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was one of the starters for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Lee Roy won two championships, and 31-1-1 during his three years as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. The National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in 1975. Selmon earned his diploma in education. Fourth-year service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. After graduation, he landed in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. He began his career in 1988. was working as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 outstanding youngsters across the nation. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at 256 pounds in college as player, commanded his team for the year 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of at the University of South Fla's athletic department as the assistant director. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
